Clemente accepts Iran's condition

Javier Clemente inches towards becoming the coach of Iran's national team after accepting the football federation's condition that he should live in Iran.

Efforts to appoint the 57-year-old former Spain's and Serbia's coach reached a deadlock this month over his refusal to stay in Iran.

"Clemente accepted Iran's condition that he should live in Iran all the time," Iran's television said on Wednesday without giving details.

The Iranian Football Federation (FFI) said on Wednesday it had given Clemente a second chance to become the national side's coach despite FFI chief Ali Kafshian's insistence earlier in the week that a local coach would be employed instead.

Clemente told the FFI last week that he would not accept the condition about where he lived and rejected the job offer, Reuters reported on Wednesday.

Iran made a disappointing start to the 2010 World Cup qualifier after its 0-0 draw in its match against Syria.
