Ghotbi Vows a Strong Iran in World Cup Qualifiers

"Thankfully I have full knowledge about Iran's Group C opponents. While assisting South Korea National team, I faced Kuwait and Syria, and if I get appointed as Iran National team coach I have special plans for the team," Ghotbi stated according to Iran Sports Press.

"Certainly there is no easy game. Iran's group is tough and I hope the new coach is appointed as soon as possible," he continued.

Ghotbi pledged, "If I become the manager, I don't differentiate between Esteghlal or Perspolis or other team players. My only goal will be to manage the team. Also Perspolis fans should be rest assured that I won't leave this team alone in technical aspect."

"I have big goals and if Iran Football officials have faith in me, I will do my best to respond to their trust in the most rewarding way. But up to this moment, there was no serious negotiation with me. I don't claim I'm not delighted of being linked with Iran National team job but I have to say that I do not enjoy fame and unfortunately gaining fame is troublesome in Iran. In anyway, I have detailed plans for Iranian team," Ghotbi stated.

Asked about Iran's disappointing goalless draw at home against Syria, Ghotbi mentioned, "I watched Iran's game against Syria, and if I be given the permission to change the team, I will make many changes to Iranian squad which featured against Syria."
