According to our close sources both on club level and Portuguese media, the Setubal FC is about to sign the 24-year-old Iranian International to boost their squad.
Vitoria de Setubal FC is located in the historical city of Setubal and was founded in 1910!
The years 1964-1974 is considered to be the club’s Golden era in Portuguese football in which they won two Cup of Portugal.
Since then they had 10 presences in the competition finals that also resulted in winning the cup in 2004/2005 season!
On the European level and despite never winning the UEFA cup, they always represented their country with pride as they reached quarterfinals of the UEFA four times in the past defeating powerful adversaries such as Liverpool FC, Fiorentina, Anderlacht, and Leeds United.
The club is also known to have some of the most passionate fans in Portugal. The people from Setubol are known as the “8th Army” for their massive following of the team.
Currently the team plays at Estadio de Bonfim (25,000 all-seater built in 1962) that is going under a comprehensive renovation right now. The new stadium is estimated to be ready by November 20th of 2010! (The 100th year anniversary of the club).
The team is presently coached by Carlos Carvalhal and not in a very respectable position in the Portuguese league (AKA Portuguese Liga- BWINLIGA), (14th so far).
And that is the very main reason for the club going after Arash.
Footballmedia will update you on Arash’s negotiations/progress with Setubol Club and we wish him all the best.
Go Arash!
Make us proud!

Arash Borhani
Place of birth: Kerman-Iran, September 14, 1983
First National appearance against Iraq August 13, 2003
2006 World Cup qualifying matches: 5
2006 World Cup matches: 2
A very cocky and speedy forward who plays for “Pas FC” of Tehran, has been a regular invitee to Iranian National teams (Adult-A and under 23-B).
He played for “Shahrdari FC” of Kerman before being invited to “Pas”.
Borhani grew up in the desert city of Kerman and spent his childhood with a ball at his feet. In this football-mad country, where schoolbags serve as goal posts on street corners, in courtyards and even up on rooftops, Borhani's talents stood out from an early age. It was no surprise that he began attracting the interest of professional clubs and eventually, in 2003, he moved to the capital Tehran to join Pas, one of the three leading clubs in Iranian football.
Last year (2006) he joined “Al Nasr” club of United Arab Emirates (UAE Champions 1978-79-86), on loan, but not was successful and shortly after returned to his club “Pas”.
Borhani has excellent ball handling skills, strong shots, and amazing pace. The only weakness in his game is his unpolished finishing. Some think this may be due to nerves, but most see it as weak focus, which can be fixed with experience.
He came very close to taking his club to the semi finals of the AFC Champions League when he scored once in the first and twice in the second leg of the series against Al Ain of UAE, but both times Pas blew a lead letting Al Ain through on away goal rule.
So far he has accumulated more than 8 goals in 24 matches for his national side including a 4-goal tally against Uzbekistan (in two games), (2004 Olympic pre qualification).
Tying goal against Qatar in 2006 World Cup pre qualification.
And his memorable goal against China in 2006 Asian Games,(Please watch the goal in below link provided).
Borhani's goal in the 2006 Asian Games quarterfinals
He later appologized for his deed against the Chinese team.
Overall, Arash can be a huge asset to any team with proper direction. He has it in him!
